Project Engineer

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The R&D Project Engineer will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams to develop
project scopes, objectives, and deliverables using best practices. They will execute project
plans to ensure on-time delivery and exceed quality standards in support of product
development

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

— Leading R&D and cross-functional project engineering and project management, developing
and executing project plans to meet or exceed quality and schedule commitments

— Develop project scopes, objectives, and deliverables using best-practice deployment in
collaboration with cross functional project team stakeholders.

— Cross-function collaboration to accelerate development of system solutions (e.g., DFM, DFS)

— Track project progress and provide regular updates to management.

— Effective engagement with customers, advisors, suppliers, partners, and other external
stakeholders

— Management of project operating expenses and CAPEX

— Serve as a subject matter expert on engineering change and design control procedures

— Performs all other duties as required to meet the company’s goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

— Demonstrated experience ( >2 years) project engineering, talent development planning, and
engagement with >3 technical associates

— Demonstrated experience (>2 years) leading product development projects in an ISO 9000 or
equivalent quality system environments (e.g., ISO 13485)

— Demonstrated experience (>2 years) managing multiple technical disciplines (e.g., mechanical,
electrical, and/or software) and systems

— Financial acumen to manage project, Engineering/R&D budgets, statistics, and CAPEX (>2
years)

— Effective communication skills with superiors, peers, and subordinates

— Travel up to 5% on an annual basis including customer, partner, and supplier visits, and industry
conferences

— Biomedical Technical degree (Bachelors) with a minimum of 2 years professional engineering
and product development experience

— Strongly desired: Masters level technology management degree or MBA with technical
concentration

— Ability to support multiple projects/products simultaneously.

— Full product cycle experience with electro-mechanical aspects of a system: design, develop,
test, release, production.

— Good documentation and organizational skills.

— Use of Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and/or similar productivity tools in
Windows PC environment to generate documents.

— Medical device experience preferred

— Six Sigma/Lean certified preferred

 

This position is located on-site, in Madison, CT.
